When you think about a child’s education what is the ultimate goal?  To obtain knowledge? To get into a good college? To get a good job?  Those are all good things. But is education more than what we will gain for ourselves? We believe education also includes being in awe of the world and its creator, learning to think through things in an orderly and compassionate way, learning to making wise decisions based on the truths we find in God’s word and learning to live harmoniously in community.  A Christian Classical education looks at our ultimate ends as a life not of this world. Colossians 3:2 says, “Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things.”  Our aim is eternity with Christ. Our goal is that the Lord would use this school to make disciples of all nations.  If we think of education as a community effort where we are training disciples to go, we are doing kingdom work.

In 1999 we launched our Train up a Child Preschool and in 2013 we launched Abiding Academy. We continue to grow each year. Between the preschool, academy, daycare and afterschool programs we have over four hundred kids going through our doors each day. The Academy is thriving, so much that we need to find a new location in order to continue to grow. We are experiencing double digit growth each year and we find ourselves in the position Pastor Flaa challenged the congregation with in 2014 when he asked, “What are we as a church going to do when the Lord blesses this endeavor?” We are at the “Go” part of “Know, Grow, and Go”

Our leaders have been in diligent prayer over both long and short-term solutions. On March 26^th our congregation voted and affirmed to move forward with due diligence on an existing building at 308 W 37th Street in Sioux Falls. The cost of the building is $2.15 million dollars. This building was formerly New Oaks Church. Before that it belonged to Sioux Falls Lutheran school. We are hopeful that with the purchase of this building it will allow us more room to grow as we find a long-term plan.

We cannot do this without your support. What can you do to invest in this kingdom endeavor?

1. Be in prayer. Give praise to the Lord for the work he is doing. And pray how you could be used.
2. Share talents.  Do you have a specific talent that could help us as our Academy grows?
3. Financial Commitments. We need to rase $2.5 million dollars to pay for the cost of the building as well as anticipated remodeling costs on top of that. There are several opportunities and ways to give. Please contact us if the Lord is leading you to support in this way.
